Child care worker

Port Explorers Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten is looking for a Child Care Worker to join their Port Douglas Campus.

Description of Position

Core objectives include:

  • As written by Lead Educator, implement an early childhood learning programme that encourages children and families to value lifelong learning;
  • Assist in customised education programs that meet the individual needs and interests of children and the learning outcomes of the Company;
  • Ongoing meaningful engagements with children or alongside their play.
  • Assist in the day to day running of the centre;
  • Cover staff whilst on lunch, continuing the education program as requested.
  • Complete all cleaning duties to allow staff to complete their required paperwork.
  • Assist Educators in each room as required.

The above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company.

Other Duties

  • Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

Qualifications Required

  • Hold or working towards an ACECQA approved Cert III or Diploma qualification
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Current Anaphylaxis, Asthma, CPR and First Aid Certificates or willingness to obtain one
  • Current Child Protection Training or willingness to obtain one

Knowledge

  • A comprehensive understanding of the EYLF Curriculum and the National Quality Framework. Comprehensive knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures and the ability to find and implement National Quality Regulations and Law.

  • Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience
  • Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally
  • Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner
  • Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members
  • Time management/organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given, and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner
  • Two years experience in this role

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $40,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year (as per Award)
