Thank you to Mathilde from Tangaroa Blue for coming along to Vacation Care today to talk to us about marine debris and reef conservation. One of the things Mathilde told us is that plastic doesn’t “break down” it breaks UP. It never goes away, it just gets smaller. The children listened to hear the impact that plastic has on our sea life, and it really made us think about how much plastic we use in our everyday lives.We learned so much, and we followed the presentation with an excursion to 4 Mile to do a beach clean up! Miss Katie’s kindy class from Port Explorers Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten joined us at the beach as well and we all had a lot of fun together learning about and cleaning up our environment.
